Description	This sample of Zaleski flint measures approximately 3" x 2.5" (7.62 x 6.35 cm). Zaleski flint is named for the town in Vinton County, Ohio near where the largest quarries are located. Zaleski flint is jet black in color and has a glossy finish. Flint, a variety of quartz, is an impure form of chert, although some scientists believe that it is actually chert that is an impure form of flint. American Indians used flint to create projectile points and tools.
