Description	This 40" x 46" (101.6 x 116.84 cm) oil painting by Elmore, Ohio artist Henry Dischinger is a still life with melons, oranges, bananas, and other fruits. Henry Dischinger (1841-1917) started painting about 1856, when he apprenticed to Henry Moore, who owned a wagon and carriage shop in Elmore, Ohio. Dischinger was responsible for the gold striping and leafing on Moore's carriages. He later expanded and began painting signs, homes, and stage scenery for local opera houses. In 1908 he served as the inspector and general overseer in charge of decorating the new Ottawa County courthouse in Port Clinton. The Ottawa County Republican remarked, "there is probably not a more capable man in Northwest Ohio for this job...He is an artist of no mean repute."
