. He
is
best
known
for his
philosophy

Power
of
Positive
Thinking
"
which
he
first
published
in a
book
in
1952
. He
married
Ruth
Stafford
, an
Ohio
Wesleyan
graduate
of
1921
. In
1932
Peale
became
minister
of
Marble
Collegiate
Church
in
New
York
City
and in
1933
began
his
NBC
radio
program
,
which
lasted
for
forty
years
,
called
"The
Art
of
Living.
" In
1945
be
began
publishing
the
inspirational
monthly
magazine
,
Guideposts
. He and his
wife
created
the
Foundation
for
Christian
Living
,
which
his
widow
and
family
continued
after
his
death
in
1993
. His
35th
book
, The
Power
of
Ethical
Management
, was
published
in
1988
.
Peale
was
presented
with the
Presidential
Medal
of
Freedom
, the
highest
medal
for a
civilian
in the
United
States
, in
1984
. In
1980
,
when
Ohio
Wesleyan
University
instituted
the
Distinguished
Achievement
Citation
,
Peale
was
one
of
six
recipients
of the
award
that
year
. His
widow
,
Ruth
, was
presented
with the
university's
Distinguished
Achievement
Citation
in
2002
.
