Description	Photographic reproduction of manuscript map of New Harmony, Indiana, including streets, buildings, and notations written in German, ca. 1825. New Harmony was settled in 1814 by the Harmonists, a communal religious group from Germany. When the group returned to Pennsylvania in 1824, the village was bought by Welsh industrialist and social reformer Robert Own, who wanted to create a utopian society but gave up after only two years. Today the site is maintained as an historical communal village.
