Boys photographed at Smith's Skating Rink in Columbus, Ohio, ca. 1940-1949. Pictured here are Charles Welch, Eldon Johnson, Hugh Johnson, Jack Gordon, Rex Calendine, Red Curtis, Clarence Schuman, and James Taylor. George W. Smith, a well-known Columbus dancing instructor, built Smith's Dance Hall in 1903. Two seasons later, Smith opened Smith's Skating Rink. Both establishments were located at 2150 North Fourth Street in Columbus, Ohio, until they closed in 1971. |
