OBITUARY.
Abraham Decker was born in Butler
county, Obio, July 23d, 1818. He after¬
wards went to Danbury, Conn., where,
on February 3d, 1849, he married Mary��Elszabeth' Gates, with whom he has
lived 60 years of happy married life,
Five children were the fruits of thh
union, only two of whom are now liv¬
ing, who, with their mother are left to
mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent
father and a loving and affectionate��husband. Mr. Decker moved to Cataw¬
ba Island in 1856 and has been a resi¬
dent 43 years, and when he died, aged
nearly 81 years. He was a man well-
known throughout the community as a
loyal and upright citizen, just and con¬
scientious iri all his dealings, hospita¬
ble, social and much beloved by all his
neighbors and friends. About tour
waeks ago, Mr. Decker was attacked
with the grip, from which he never re¬
covered, but grew gradually weaker
and weaker, and thus, day by day, his
ever faithful wife saw him slowly lade
away, and realized he could not long be
with her, although the final summons
were sudden and found the family to¬
tally unprepared for his death, which
occurred at 6 o'clock, Thursday even¬
ing, March 2nd, 1899. 3w7-/tf?f
