^Officer Killed.
John Boss, a detective in the employ

and/fatally" injured by car burglars at
Graytown, last Wednesday night...
Two officers were sent out with a train
that waa Carrying some valuable mer¬
chandise. At Graytown, this county,
where the train stopped for water, they
walked over the train and from the
noise coming from one of the cars they
at once knew that car burglars were at
work. When the train stopped they
entered the car and placed one man
under arrest. This man was hancuffad
but the other man made his escape'.
A confederate on the outside came ap
and opened fire on the officers Boas
was struck by a bullet and fell over.
His partner went to his assistance and
all of the men, including the man with
the handcuffs, got away. Boss was
taken to a hospital in Toledo but died
about the time he reached the hospital.
The man that was handcuffed was
later arrested in Toledo. The marks
of the cuffs still showed on his wrists.
Sheriff Starkloff went to Toledo Wed¬
nesday afternoon and brought the man
back. He will be tried for burglary?
Officers are trying to locate the other
two men and have a clue and expect
