Colonel
DWH
Howard
wrote
: 'At the
time
of the
writer's
first
visit
to the
village
of
Winameg
, in the
Spring
of
1827
or
1828

Winameg
,

,
Wi-na-meg
, and

' The

.
It

and was
considered
to be the

village
in
Northwest

.
DHW
Howard
was an

stated
that 'as a
rule
,
when
treaties
were
successfulloy
made
, there was
more

accomplish
the
objects
in

' He
thought
it
'
unfortunate
that the
government
would
appoint
agents
who
were, to
say
the
least
, not
just.
