of the l e t t e r s are taritten t o Jonathan S. h k h c l d e r , who
lived in Smithville, Ohio, Wayne Do. Hia business trans-actions
( he held interest i n a brewery i n Smithville) in
both land and the breaery are revealed i n the l e t t e r s in
the collection.
Other letters are m i t t e n to Burkholder from his many rela-tives
in the west:
