Description	Before refrigeration, ice was delivered to residences and stored in ice boxes. This 45" x 35" x 19" (114.3 x 88.9 x 48.26 cm) ice box was typical of those used in the late nineteenth century. Since ice was delivered in large blocks, tongs were essential for handling the ice. These tongs measure 16" x 6" (40.64 x 15.24 cm). Both of these items were used in Logan County, Ohio.
