how
it
worked
: "The
general
plan
of the
machine
is
as
follows
: the
grain
is
cut
by an
ordinary
reaping
arrangement
and
elevated
on a
canvas
and
is
then
passed
between
two
rubber

which
loosen
the

it
passes
through
a
peculiar

arrangement
which
remove[s]
the
grain
from the
straw
. At this
point
the
straw
is
thrown
out
of the

. At the
same
time
the
grain
is
dropped
on a
screen
and
it
is
cleaned
by a
blast
of
air
. The
shaft
is
blown
away
and the
grain
is
dropped
on an
elevator
which
carries
it
to an
automatic
sacker.
