Description	Journalist Anne O'Hare McCormick sent this Christmas Card to Sister Mary Anthony of the Dominican Sisters, St. Mary of the Springs in 1926. McCormick was in Rome at the time and wishes Sister Anthony "health and every other blessing in the new year." The card is four pages and measures 8" x 4.5" (20.32 x 11.43 cm). Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Anne O'Hare McCormick (1880-1954) graduated as valedictorian from the Academy of St. Mary of the Springs in 1898. In 1910, she married Frank McCormick, a businessman from Dayton who introduced her to world travel. From overseas, she began writing freelance, submitting stories to the New York Times. Eventually, McCormick earned her own column in the Times, titled "Abroad" and during the years leading up to World War II she interviewed such important personalities as Adolph Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. In 1936 McCormick became the first woman appointed to the editorial board of the Times. A year later she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in journalism. McCormick also received numerous honorary degrees from such institutions as The Ohio State University, University of Dayton, and Ohio Dominican University. Among other awards, she received the prestigious Laetare Award from the University of Notre Dame in 1944.

Full Text	Dear Sister M. Anthony: I send you prayers and loving thoughts from Rome. I hope you are better day by day and that the New Year may bring you new health and every other blessing. We are spending Christmas with all the saints who people the churches and sanctify the soil of Rome - and I'll mention you to so many of them as I can be on speaking terms with! This little St. Anthony is blessed by the Pope with a special petition for you. May he say a Merry Christmas and the most affectionate good wishes for me.
