Description	These two letters were written by General Anthony Wayne, commander of the Unites States forces at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794. The first one-page, 8.5" x 11" (21.6 x 27.9 cm) letter was written in 1791, while Wayne was fighting the Creek Indians near Savannah, Georgia. After St. Clair's defeat by the American Indians in Ohio in November 1791, President George Washington sent Wayne to the Ohio Country to defeat the Indians. Wayne's army defeated the confederation of American Indian tribes at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794, and the following summer the Indians met at Green Ville to discuss Wayne's terms for peace. The talks resulted in the Treaty of Greenville, which established the Greenville Treaty line and ended the Indian Wars in Ohio. The second letter, written in November 1795 while Wayne was still at Greenville, deals with issues of supplies and orders for troops. It is one page and measures 8.5" x 14" (21.6 x 27.9 cm).

Full Text	[corresponds to page one of letter from Anthony Wayne to Edward Telfair, June 10, 1791] Savannah 20th June 1791 Dear Sir I take the liberty to inform you that I shall sail for Philadelphia on the 27th I will be much obliged by such communications as you may occasionally think proper to honor me with? In the interim I would wish to know what has been done or if any measures have been taken to recover the prisoners & property carried off by the Indians which agreeably to Treaty were to be deliver'd up on or before the first Instant. I wou'd also wish to know your sentiments with regard to compensation to the suffering Citizens of Georgia for the Robberies & depredations committed by the Creeks antecedent to the treaty. For
