Description	These two photographs show the Sisters of St. Francis working on murals for the fly area (the area above the stage where pulleys are hidden) of the Franciscan Center of Lourdes College in Sylvania in 1980. Sister Jane Mary Sorosiak is pictured in the first photograph, which measures 4" x 4.75" (10.16 x 12.07 cm) and Sister M. Agneta Ganzel is shown in the second 5.25" x 3.75" (13.34 x 9.53 cm). A third photograph shows the mural of St. Francis on the fly area of the Franciscan Center in 1981 and measures 6.25" x 4" (15.88 x 10.16 cm). The final photograph shows the mural of the Risen Christ, also on the fly area of the Franciscan Center. It measures 6.25" x 4" (15.88 x 10.16 cm). The Lourdes College Franciscan Center (originally called the Franciscan Life Center) was built in response to community and diocesan needs. It extends the ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis to provide for the cultural, recreational, and conference needs of the people of the area. Dedicated by Bishop James Hoffman in 1981, it encompasses an acre under one roof. The center includes an 876-seat auditorium, gymnasium, conference rooms, serving kitchen, board room, and a large commons. More than 100 brick arches dominate the interior and exterior walkways. The exterior of the fly area is wrapped on three sides with murals depicting the Risen Christ and St. Francis of Assisi. All of the artwork was designed and executed by the Sisters of St. Francis and the art department of Lourdes College. The studio, known as Alverno, takes its name from Mount La Verna, a mountain in Tuscany, Italy where St. Francis prayed.
