Description	This is the first catalog for the preparatory and adult education department of the Cleveland Institute of Music. It includes a faculty list, description of classes, and enrollment procedures. The catalog is eight pages and measures 8.375" x 5.5" (21.27 x 13.97 cm). Until 1971, the preparatory department's offerings of musical training were described in the conservatory's catalog. In 1971, however, the preparatory and adult education department began issuing its own catalog detailing musical training available to pre-school, school age, and adult students. The enrollment in preparatory and adult education programs during this time averaged 2,500 people. Several branch locations provided additional instructional space. The preparatory department at the Cleveland Institute of Music has existed as part of the conservatory's operation since its earliest days. Leadership of this program was one of the responsibilities of the institute's president. During his tenure, Beryl Rubinstein taught preparatory and special students on Saturday mornings. He also attended many preparatory recitals. In 1961, Victor Babin was appointed as director of the Institute. In 1969, the program had grown to such an extent that the position of director was created for the preparatory department. Lillian Husak was the first person appointed to this position.
