For the protection of the Public Ground be
Be it ordained [Be...ordained underlined] by the City Council of
Cleveland that from and after this date it
shall be unlawful for any person or
persons to play at any game of Ball
or at any other game or pastime whereby
the grass or grounds of any Public
place or square shall be defaced or
injured, and any person or persons
who may be convicted of any of the
above offences before the Mayor shall
forfeit and pay to the City any sum
not less than five dollars at the [carrot mark] discretion of the [above carrot mark] Mayor
with cost of prosecution
