Description	This sixteen-page catalog advertises Champion reaping and mowing machines manufactured by Warder, Mitchell & Co. of Springfield, Ohio. The brochure claims that the company offers the "most reliable harvester in America" and includes information on the features of the machine and how to use it. It measures 6" x 8.75" (15.24 x 20.96 cm). In the early 1850s, William N. Whiteley invented the first prototype of what would become the Champion Combined Reaper and Mower with Sweep Rake. This product became the foundation of an agricultural empire and Springfield became known as the "Champion City." By the 1870s the phenomenal success of the Champion Reaper and Mower had ushered in a golden age of manufacturing in Springfield. The demand for this product was so large that the firm of Whiteley, Fassler & Kelly moved their operations to the East Street Shops, one of the largest manufacturing operations in the world at that time, which covered 54 acres and employed 2,000 workers. The production of the Champion line was eventually taken over by the firm of Warder, Bushnell & Glessner, which was one of the five firms that formed the International Harvester Company in 1902.
