Urbana, O	October 20 1874 
At an informal meeting of the Central Ohio Scientific Association 
Held at Dr. Boals office. 
Dr. Moses was called to the chair and W.F. Leahy appointed Secretary Pro Tem 
On Motion, the chair was empowered to appoint a committee of three 
to draft a Constitution. 
The following pensarrs were appointed.  Mr. Glover, Mr. Meyer, and 
Mr. Bennett. 
The members resolved themselves into a committee of the whole 
to assist the committee an constitution. 
The following constitution was submitted and on motion 
was adopted. 
Article 1st.  The Society shall be called "The Central Ohio Scientific 
Association. 
Art. 2nd  The object of the Organization shall be 
1st  The cultivation of Science 
2nd  The Study of the region around us and its 
inhabitants 
3rd  The development of a scientific taste in the 
community 
4th Mutual acquaintance among scientific workers 
Art. 3rd All members shall be chosen by ballot after having 
been nominated at a proceeding meeting.  The affirm- 
ative votes of three fourths of the members present 
shall be necessary to a choice.  Corresponding and Hon- 
erary members may be elected and shall be 
free from all fees and assessments. 
Art. 4th Each member shall pay an initiation fee of two dollars. 
The annual assessments for each member shall not exceed three dollars 
Art. 5th	The offices of this association shall consist of a 
President, Vice President, a Recording, and a Cor- 
responding secretary, Treasurer and Curator, 
They shall hold their offices one year or until 
thier successors shall be appointed.  They shall 
be elected by ballot. 
Art. 6th The President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer 
shall constitute an executive branch. 
Art. 7th By-laws for the more particular regulation of the 
society may be made.
