Description	The Illustrated Historical Atlas of Carroll County Ohio was published by H. H. Hardesty of Chicago in 1874. The volume is 89 pages long; six pages are included here. Each page measures 15 by 18 inches (38.1 by 45.72 cm). Pages show the county's 14 townships and drawings of county farms, residences, and businesses. One farmer whose stock farm and home are featured, Jonah Queen, specialized in raising merino sheep. His prize ram, "Little Wrinkle" is also depicted. Other local businesses highlighted in the atlas include William Hardesty's steam-powered flour mill and N.J. Aldridge's marbleworks. The "Educational Building" in Carrollton is also shown. Carroll County was created in 1832 and incorporated parts of five neighboring counties: Stark, Columbiana, Jefferson, Harrison, and Tuscarawas. It was named for Charles Carroll (1737-1832) of Maryland, the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. Carrollton, its county seat, was originally called Centerville.
