Description	This book contains minutes for the Albany Ohio Board of Education. Included here are the front inside cover and the first page. Of special note is an act passed by the state of Ohio on April 11, 1888. The act calls for "the study of the nature of alcoholic drinks and narcotics and their effects on the human system, in the public schools of the State of Ohio, and in all educational institutions supported wholly or in part by public money." It declares that as of January 1, 1889 the effects of alcohol and narcotics on the human system will be included in connection with the subjects of hygiene and physiology. Also, it states that no person will be granted a certificate to teach without exhibiting the ability to teach these subjects, and any teacher or principal who refuses to teach these subjects will be dismissed. The act is pasted inside the front cover of the book, along with an undated newspaper clipping about the "Order and Nature of Business to be Transacted by a Board of Education under the Laws of Ohio." The volume measures 7.5 by 12 inches (19.05 by 30.48 cm).
