Description	This February 1966 edition of the Ohio Wesleyan Magazine was dedicated to legendary coach Branch Rickey, Ohio Wesleyan University graduate and athletic director, who, as manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers, signed Jackie Robinson and integrated baseball in 1945. The magazine includes photographs and reactions from alumni, students, and fans to Rickey's death. This edition of Ohio Wesleyan Magazine is approximately 23 pages long and measures 8.25" x 11" (20.96 x 27.94 cm). Eight pages are included here. Rickey (1881-1965) was born in Stockdale, Ohio. Rickey began his baseball career while a student and coach at Ohio Wesleyan University. In 1917 he started his administrative career with the St. Louis Cardinals. Rickey was associated with the Cardinals until 1942, and served as president from 1917-1919, field manager from 1919-1925, and general manager from 1925-1942. In 1919 Rickey designed a farm system of training baseball players before bringing them to the major leagues, establishing the modern farm system that still exists today. In 1943 Rickey began a job as president and general manger of the Brooklyn Dodgers, where he served until 1950. In 1945 Rickey broke baseball's color barrier by hiring the first black players in non-Negro League history, one of whom was Jackie Robinson. Rickey was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1967.
