Description	This 1909 postcard shows the horse-drawn parade floats passing through downtown Dayton in celebration of the homecoming of the Wright Brothers. The postcard was sent to Miss Irma Pfefferl of Sidney, Ohio by a friend. It measures 3.25" x 5.25" (8.4 x 13.5 cm). The Dayton celebration in honor of the achievements of the aviators Orville and Wilbur Wright took place June 18, 1909, upon their return from Europe, where they were busy marketing their Wright Flyers to foreign potentates. The two-day ceremony included the presentation of medals from the governor of Ohio and the mayor of Dayton. Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the aircraft that made the first successful powered flight on December 17, 1903.
