Description	These three souvenir photographs show Will H. Canada, one of the performers at the Big Four Opera House in Dover, Ohio during the 1893 season. Canada entertained audiences with his female impersonation and music acts. The first two 4" x 5.5" (10.16 x 13.97 cm) photographs show Canada in his costume. The final photograph, is signed "Just singing one of my favorite songs" and measures 3.5" x 5.25" (8.89 x 13.34 cm). The Big Four Opera House opened in Dover, Ohio on January 2, 1892. It was named for its major backers, four of Dover's most prominent citizens: Jacob A. Horn, Joseph Beiter, Philip Schaeffer, and Christian Deis. The Big Four hosted traveling plays, orchestras, and vaudeville acts in addition to local productions. After 1903, however, interest in the theater declined and it was unable to produce a full season.
