Description	The Report of the War Emergency Relief Board documents the activities of Cleveland women during the Spanish American War. The report lists materials sent to soldiers, money raised, and contributing organizations around the state. Selections, including chapters on "Preliminary Organization" the report of vice president in charge of appropriations, a list of auxiliary organizations, and the report of the committee on distribution, are included here. The complete volume is 130 pages long and measures 6" x 9" (15.24 x 22.86 cm). The Western Reserve Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, formed two committees to aid the troops in May of 1898, soon after the start of the Spanish American War. Wives of prominent Cleveland physicians comprised one committee, and the other was composed of "such leading women of our chapter and of our city as are always active in matters of relief." Within two weeks, the committees were joined under the name War Emergency Relief Board, and "every woman in Cleveland willing to work in the noble cause" was invited to become a member. Prominent members included the wives of politician Marcus Hanna and philanthropist Jeptha Wade.
