Description	Five illustrations and a price list document the range of farm equipment manufactured by C. & G. Cooper & Company in the 1870s and 1880s. Illustrations include a portable engine, a farm wagon with iron truck wheels, an improved traction engine, a self-steering traction engine, and a traction engine and separator on the road. The final page contains price lists for the improved portable steam engine on skids and the combined portable and stationary engine on wheels. These pages were taken from C. & G. Cooper & Co. catalogues and range in size from 4.75 by 8 inches (12.07 by 20.32 cm) to 5.75 by 9 inches (14.61 by 22.86 cm). Charles C. Cooper was the founder of the Cooper Company. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio in 1811, but moved to Zanesville to work in the coal and dairy businesses. He returned to Knox County and opened a foundry in the 1830, which began by producing plows and casting and expanded until its products included threshing machines, saw mills, and steam engines. Cooper was in business with several of his brothers and other partners, but remained the main figure in the company. By 1881, the company's annual business amounted to $400,000. The Cooper Company was a major employer in Mt. Vernon with approximately 200 men employed by the 1880s.
