Description	This campaign poster includes a portrait of Simeon D. Fess and announces his senatorial campaign. It is one page and measures 12.25" x 17.75" (31.12 x 45.09 cm). Also included here is an announcement for the closing speech of Fess's 1929 campaign, given at the Xenia Opera House in Greene County. It measures 6" x 7.25" (15.24 x 18.42 cm). Simeon D. Fess (1861-1936) was born on a farm near Harrod in Allen County, Ohio. Fess attended Ohio Northern University earning a bachelor's degree in 1889 and a law degree in 1894. He served as vice president of the university from 1900-1902. From 1906-1916, Fess was president of the struggling Antioch College, which was suffering a financial crisis. He helped to increase enrollment in the college from 70 to 279 students. During this time, Fess also developed his political career, being elected as a Republican to the United States House of Representatives from Ohio in 1913 and serving until 1923. He served in the United States Senate from 1923 until 1935.
