Adams County May 24th 1807 Ohio State
Dear Brother and sister I seriously take my
pen at this time to inform you of our situation thanks
be to God we are in a tolerable state of health at
presant hoping these may find you all enjoying
the same blessing we rec'd your letter dated March
the 2nd which gave us particular satisfaction to hear
that joseph got safe home and found the family
well our situation at preasatnt is somewhat
maloncholy on account of my daughter Nancy
McClelands Death who after a long tedious bed
Of verry sore affliction is gon the way of all living
which has bean the cause of a good deal of trouble
in the family! But we must try to gave her up
to him that made her with as little reluctance
as humane nature will admit of we had a long
tedious journey occationed by the inclemency of
the weather But we have reason to be thankfull
we all had our heal [torn and illegible] met with no accident
