Description	This Porter's Pain King salve tin measures 3.5" (8.89 cm) in diameter. The text on interior of the lid of the tin is in German, repeating the English text on the bottom of the tin. Founded in 1871, the George H. Rundle Company produced Porter's Pain King, a patent medicine. Prohibition in the 1920s forced the company to abandon its liniment, which was 63% alcohol, in favor of a salve. The company marketed the Porter's Liniment Salve on a trial basis, collecting payment only if the customer was satisfied. The George H. Rundle Company went out of business in 1969, but Bill and Dave Toecker of Covington, Ohio continued manufacturing it using the original formula. George H. Rundle (1847-1917) was born in New York. In 1871 he moved to Ohio, settled in Lima and began a medicine business with Dr. Porter. In 1886 Rundle moved the business to Piqua, and in 1897 the business was incorporated as the G. H. Rundle Company. He was a respected citizen in Piqua, serving as city treasurer and director and president of the Piqua National Bank.
