Description	This fair book contains a premium list, organizational details, and the constitution of the Preble County Agricultural Society. Page one, titled "Appreciation" contains a paragraph indicating the board's quandary over whether to have a fair while the nation was involved in World War II. Page seven informs the reader that "Stamps and Bonds Will Be On Sale On the Fairgrounds." Advertisements by area merchants are on every other page. The cover reflects a patriotic rather than a farm theme. The fair book is 91 pages long and measures 4.5" x 7.5" (11.43 x 19.05 cm). Preble County is one of the richest agricultural areas in Ohio. The county agricultural society formed in 1850 and hosted its first fair on the grounds of the county courthouse. In 1855, the society purchased land on which to hold the fair and laid out a track for horse races, despite protests from some members of the community. In 1866, the fair moved to its permanent location, where new buildings were constructed and a larger racetrack created. Attendance and premiums grew, and the fair became one of the most popular in the state.
