Description	Students and faculty at Ashland College, now Ashland University, published Purple and Gold, a monthly magazine devoted to art, literature, science, and religion, from 1900 to 1921. It was the first official student publication at the institution, which was founded in 1878 and is affiliated with the Brethren Church. It featured news of events, essays, reviews, and articles written by students. This issue, from March 1902, is 16 pages and measures 6.58 by 9.80 inches (16.71 by 24.9 cm). An index to the complete collection of Purple and Gold magazines is available at the Ashland University Archives.
