Description	The first photograph is a group of Ohio State University nursing students on their capping day in March 1941. Capping day was a major rite of passage in a student nurse's life. The ceremony occurred at the end of the sophomore year and marked the day a student nurse received the nursing cap. The photograph measures 3.5" x 5.5" (8.89 x 13.97 cm). A second photograph shows Ohio State University nursing student Nora Ellen Turner in front of the Neil Avenue Nurses Home in 1919. The photograph measures 2.75" x 4.75" (6.99 x 12.07 cm). Instruction in nursing was first offered at The Ohio State University in 1914; the nursing school was designated a college in 1984. Since 1945, nursing instruction at the undergraduate level has led to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The graduate program leading to the Master of Science Degree was first offered in 1954. The first students were admitted to the Ph.D. program in 1984.
