Description	This postcard shows Oakwood, Ohio, which at one point during the 1913 flood was under 10 feet of water. Residents were forced to evacuate, and many of them went to the village of Continental, a neighboring community in Putnam County. Bridges were knocked out by houses rushing against them or blown down by strong winds. The postcard measures 3.625" x 5.625" (9.20 x 14.28 cm). In Paulding County, rain began falling on Sunday morning, March 23, 1913 and did not stop until Tuesday morning, March 25. The surplus water quickly overflowed streams and the nearby Auglaize River. Oakwood suffered the heaviest damage in Paulding County; the entire town was under water for three days, covered by depths from a half inch to ten feet. Many businesses in Oakwood were submerged (the business section of town was covered by an average of five to eight feet of water) and all but eight homes in the town were flooded.
