Description	This ten-page pamphlet announces the establishment of the Midwest Exchange, a barter system formed during the Great Depression of the 1930s. It documents the policies and procedures of the organization, which was based in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The pamphlet measures 6" x 9" (15.24 x 22.86 cm). Both the Yellow Springs Exchange and Midwest Exchange were created by Arthur Morgan in 1932 and were headquartered in Yellow Springs. According to one announcement, the Exchange was established to "help people exchange what they have for what they want." The Yellow Springs Exchange was locally focused, while the Midwest Exchange was regional. Both exchanges functioned until 1933, when the National Recovery Act was enacted.
