Description	This program was produced for the 1918 Chautauqua in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. The event was held to benefit the Red Cross and included concerts, speeches, and a lecture by Private Arthur Quigley of Franklin, Ohio, who fought at Flanders in World War I. The 40-page program measures 8" x 4" (20.32 x 10.16 cm). The Mechanicsburg Chautauqua Association brought a wide assortment of entertainment and educational speakers to Matinee Park, later known as Goshen Memorial Park. Families from the surrounding area flocked to Mechanicsburg to enjoy the music, camping, picnics, and a wide variety of speakers. Speakers came from around the United States and Europe. Tents were available for those who wanted to stay on the grounds at a small cost. Matinee Park had a natural amphitheater with shade trees, a well for fresh water, and a large level area with a race track for entertainment and camping.
