Description	These photographs show members of the Lorain County Historical Society at the Lorain County Fair in Elyria, Ohio in 1889. The first 6.5" x 4.5" (16.51 x 11.43 cm) photograph shows the society members dressed in historical costumes at the Lorain County Historical Society's exhibit. The second photograph, which measures 5.5" x 4.5" (13.97 x 11.43 cm), shows Mrs. McLean and Miss Carrie Wooster of the historical society demonstrating operation of a spinning wheel at the fair. The women in the Centennial Loan Association in Elyria celebrated Ohio's centennial of settlement by collecting Lorain County items for display at an Elyria store, the Lorain County Fair, and ultimately in Columbus, Ohio in 1888. Taking pride in the discoveries they had made concerning Lorain County, they decided to form a permanent organization, Lorain County Historical Society, in 1889 for the collection, preservation, and exhibition of artifacts and documents for future Lorain County residents and visitors.
