Description	These two 10" x 12" (25.4 x 30.48 cm) photographs show the engines Nashville and Louisville, part of President Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession, which traveled by railroad. The train carried president's body across Ohio from Cleveland through New London to Columbus in 1865. The first photograph shows the Nashville, the train's engine. The Louisville, shown in the second photograph, ran ten minutes ahead of the funeral train as a precaution. Both engines belonged to the Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Railroad. After President Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, his body was sent back to Springfield, Illinois for burial. The 1650-mile route from Washington D.C. to Springfield ran through Ohio from Erie, Pennsylvania to Cleveland, south to Columbus, and west to Indianapolis. Along the way, mourners lined the tracks and special services were held. On April 28, the train stopped in Cleveland, where 100,000 mourners paid their respects.
