Description	These two 9.75" x 12.5" (24.77 x 31.75 cm) photographs show Fence Day in Attica, Ohio around 1912. The first photograph shows wagons loaded with fencing materials on the streets of Attica. The second photograph shows a group of men in front of the Robert Armatage Hardware Store on North Main Street. The annual event took place when Robert Armatage, hardware merchant and representative of the Adrian Woven Fence Company, received two or three railroad cars of fencing via the railroad. He would notify his fence customers and many would come in the morning and load directly from the rail car to their wagons. Before returning home, they would stop in Attica and feed the horses in the livery barns. Drivers and fence customers would be treated to dinner at the expense of Robert Armatage.
