Description	This 8" x 10" (20.32 x 25.4cm) certificate declares that John Michel of Sandusky died in World War I. A 4" x 4.5" (10.16 x 11.43 cm) note card expressing the President Woodrow Wilson's sympathies was included with the certificate. The final document is a notice from the treasury department stating that John Michel's parents, William and Caroline, are entitled to ten dollars each as parents of John Michel. It is 8.5" x 11" (21.59 x 27.94 cm). John Michel worked at the Dauch Manufacturing Company in Sandusky, Ohio, before beginning service in the army in May of 1918. He died in combat on November 8, 1918, three days before the World War I armistice was signed, at the age of 26.
