Steubenville January 1

Mr T Roch
Understanding some time ago that you
wanted to employ some weavers in the
spring were the undersigned wou'd
probably work for you if reasonable
encouredgement was given [line]
Wee have had it in contemplation
to recrose the mountains: because
that manufacturing has revived a great
deal in those parts and the differance
of wages being a suffecient inducement
Wee have been employ'd in the woolen
factory at this place for a number of years
and without any just cause of being
dissatisfyed with our treatment till
very latly. [line] Tho a market is found
in the atlantic citys for all the clothes
made here and at a good price yet
our wages are so far reduced that it
requirs our greatest exertion to get
a mere Subsistance.
