Description	These three images show pottery produced by the Bell Brothers Pottery, one of the many manufacturing companies attracted to Findlay by the offer of free or inexpensive natural gas during the gas boom of the late 19th century. The company became one of the first potteries west of the Ohio River when it opened in July 1889. The company produced stoneware and finer porcelain. By 1890 there were 200 people employed day and night and the pottery expanded to handle the increasing number of orders. Production was interrupted in 1893 for lack of orders, fires, and storms. By July 12, 1900 the factory was in full operation in a new brick building. From 1900 to 1904 the plant was beset by troubles brought on by shortages of coal and clay from England as well as the death of William Bell. The company moved to Columbus in 1904 when the gas in Findlay played out. The pieces shown here measure approximately 7" x 4" (17.8 cm x 10.16 cm) to 10" x 5" (25.4 cm x 12.7).
