Description	These six photographs document the James H. Barrow Field Station in Portage County, Ohio. The field station was established in 1967 to provide Hiram College students the opportunity to supplement classroom activities with hands-on learning experiences. The first photograph, which measures 7.5" x 10" (19.05 x 25.4 cm) shows a student feeding a deer. A second photograph shows the field station's lodge. The photograph measures 8" x 10" (20.32 x 25.4 cm). Four other photographs, measuring 4" x 6" (10.16 x 15.24 cm) show students in rowboat with net, with a snake, with a turtle, and collecting insects. The second photograph was taken by Record Courier photographer Robert Seton. Since 1967, the James H. Barrow Field Station has grown and developed into an active research and educational facility that not only enhances the Hiram College's science and environmental studies programs, but also provides a means for the general public to increase their understanding and appreciation of Ohio natural history. The field station consists of a 260-acre parcel of land, with more than 200 acres of beech-maple forest, a cold-water stream, two ponds, fields of varying ages, young forests, crop fields, a two-mile interpretive nature trail, a waterfowl observation building and meeting center, a lab building with student research areas and natural history displays, experimental agricultural fields, and an aquatics building that includes an experimental stream and two containment pools. Station research projects are conducted in the areas of aquatic and terrestrial ecology, agroecology, and animal behavior.
