Description	In 1877, the Brethren Church asked the community of Ashland to consider hosting a university. The community raised the $10,000 that was needed and Ashland College was founded as a co-educational institution affiliated with the Brethren Church. Classes began on September 17, 1879, after Founder's Hall and Allen Hall were constructed on the new campus. This catalog is from Ashland College's first year. It includes information on costs, requirements for graduation, social activities, and a list of students. It measures 4" x 7" (10.5 x 17.5 cm) and is 31 pages long.
