ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
OF
The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society
WITNESSTH, That we, the undersigned all of whom
are citizens of the State of Ohio, desiring to form a corporation, not for profit, under
[torn] general corporation laws of said State, do hereby certify:
[torn] FIRST. That the name of said corporation shall be
[torn] The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society
SECOND. Said corporation shall be located, and its principal business transacted,
at the city of Columbus, in Franklin County, Ohio.
THIRD: The purpose of said incorporation is formed is to promote a
knowledge of Archaeology and History, especially of Ohio,
by establishing and maintaining a library of books, manuscripts, maps,
charts, etc. properly pertaining thereto, a museum of prehistoric relics
and natural or other curiosities or specimens of art or nature promotive
of the objects of the association, said library and museum to be open to the public
[torn] [illegible] reasonable times - by courses of lectures and publications of books, papers, and docu-
[torn] [illegible] the subjects as specified, with power to receive and hold gifts and devices
[torn] of [illegible] and personal state for the benefit of such associations, and generally to exercise the powers
legally properly pertaining thereto. This association has no capital stock.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, We have hereunto set our hands, this 12th day
of March, A.D. 188 5.
