Marietta, Ohio Petition to Incorporate

              To His Excellency the Governour of the Territory of 
the United States Northwest of the Ohio --- 
The Legislative Council, and the House of Representatives 
in General Assembly --- 
The petition of the subscribers, Inhabitants of Marietta 
respectfully showeth --- 
That your Petitioners are desireous 
that the Inhabitants of the Township of Marietta, may be 
incorporated into a body politic, and corporate, vested with 
power, to regulate the internal police of the said Township 
and provide for the incidental expenses arising within the sa[illegible] 
Wherefore your Petitioners pray You to take the subject [illegible] 
consideration, and enact a law granting them such pr[illegible] 
liges as are commonly enjoy'd by incorporate Towns in 
many of the States, composing the United States of America
