Third Letter
Lookout valley Tenn March 13th 1864
Dear Wife I take my pen in hand
this bright Sunday morning to drop
you a few lines to let you know
that I am well and hope they may
find you the same I got your
welcome letter a friday and was verry
glad to hear from you and to hear
that you was well but I was scared
when I Saw the envellope for I was
certain Some of you was dead do
not Send any more of them envelopes
I am Sorry about Cashus swallowing
a tack but it may not hurt him
Well Emely we left Nashville left
tuesday morning a week and got
here a thursday morning being 48 hours
running 148 miles since that time we have
been buissy at work everry day untill
yesterday at noon we are not at work
to day although we worked all last sunday
