Description	On the regimental colors of 10th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, a blue flag with gold fringe, is embroidered the United States arms. The arms consists of a bald eagle with a olive branch in its left talon and three arrows in its right. The eagle's eye is made of one black bead surrounded by rows of red and silver beads. On the back of the flag are embroidered the names of battles in which the regiment saw action: Tunnell Hill, Resaca, Atlanta, Macon, Waynesboro, and Savannah. There are two images of the flag, the front and back of the flag. The 10th O.V.C. was organized at Camp Taylor in Cleveland, Ohio under Colonel Charles C. Smith in October 1862. It participated in the battles of Chickamauga, Atlanta, Resaca, and Sherman's march to the sea. Ohio battle flags were on display at the Ohio Statehouse until the 1960s, when the state formed a committee to oversee efforts to restore the fragile flags. Some of the battle flags were on display on the plaza level of the Ohio Historical Center from 1970 until 1989. For conservation reasons, the flags have been in storage since 1989. In the 1960s, the collection was photographed and commercial artist Robert Needham painted illustrations of many Civil War flags.
