Dear Father and Mother
I wrote to Juliet
a few days since - and stated that I was not
very well. It was nothing more than a slight
attack of fever, and I am now quite well
again. I appear to stand the influences of
this country very well in all my campaigning
in the South my health has been remarkably
good until about two weeks ago when I was
taken with chills and fever. I was not very
sick at any time-being able to attend
my duties every day. I have now recovered
and feel almost as well as ever.
Gen. Buckland and Col. Crockett are still
quite sick. The Gen. is better today and I
think that his fever has changed for the better
Col. Crockett has been having fever of a
congestive form but is in no immediate danger
at present.
