Borne down by insupportable tyranny and oppres-sion in the laud of their birth, thisy fully appreciated tho blessings of civil and reli-gimis liberty, and bnd formed the beau ideol of a perfi'ct government which they ardently desired to secure to themselves and pos terity. Deluded hv the promises hold out during the last Presidential contest, at least nineteen-twenlieths of them were rnnged on the side of General Jackson. Can it ho wondered then, that ingratitude, misrule, and tyranny have driven into tho opposition so large nnd respectable a portion of tlieui.nnd thai finding themselves deceived, they now se.'k lo repair the evils they have innocently assisted in producing! To understand the 6tnle nf feeling roused among this class of our fellow citizens, it is enough to look nt the meeting recently held in Philadelphia. 75 TOBACrO.
