The following Resolutions have been handed us for publication. Tho general objects they have in view we most cordially approve. Millions have been expended by the Stato in opening channels for tho exit of Iter surplus produce. The State is, nnd must continue to be, essentially agricultural. It then behooves ber guardians, by suitable encouragement, to stimulate the producing class to grow her staplo products to the greatest possible extent; and the policy which resulted in uniting the waters of tho Lake with those of the Lubctlc Ilecicre will then bo exhibited in its most glorious aspect. It merits consideration whether the interest of the State is not seriously involved in the question, whether her Legislature bestows any, and how much aid in tho cause of agricultural improvement. If wo need an ineentivo to action, we have but to cast our eye to our sister States for examples of the invogorating cflccts a little bounty, in the shape of premiums, has in raising the standard of agriculture. Ucsides exalting the state of refinement nnd prosperity of tho whole community, the Slate no doubt, by patronizing Agricultural Societies, will receive into her coffers, in the increase of canal revenue, fourfold the amount expended. That tho State Government would be tho gainer by a judicious patronage of Agricultural Societies, we can have no possible doubt. The manner of bestowing it is a question for mature reflection. Tho resolutions aro silent as to soliciting aid from the Stato authorities. Without such aid, we frankly express our opinion, tho organization will be in vain. A fow, liberal, enterprising individuals, may bo willing to contribute to sustain the objects of such an institution; but the great mass, under such an arrangement, will not como up to tho work. The paramount object should be to obtain such an organization, and such aid as will interest all. Make them feel they have an interest at stako, and tho battle is more than half won. We have enlisted, in a small way, with a desiro to be useful to tho Farmers. Will they lend a helping hand! We hopo the different counties in tho Slate will not only bo fully represented in tho proposed Agricultural Convention on tho 3d Wednesday in Decem ber noxt, tut make audi uu appeal, by potition to tho Legislature then in session, for aid, as shall command respect and obedience Wo trust tho newspapor press throughout tho Slate will not feel it a hardship to publish tho resolutions, with such accompanying remarks as the subject seems to require. rnocF.RniNfifi or the ntntxTORS op tup. licking Cdl'NTY AOIIIt't'l.TIIRAI. KIICIKTV, RP.I.ATIVK TO TUB F.KTAIILIHMHKNT OF A STATU AtJRICULTlIRA BOUIKTY. October 10, 183d. At a meclinir of tho Hoard of Directors of tho Lick ing County Agricullur.il Society, on Monday, the Hi h day of October, IHIM, it was lltmlml. That in tho opinion of this Board it is very desirable to have funned a Slate Ajrieiillurnl Society, having for its leading objects the collodion, compilation, and publication uf facts and observations relalivo to, and embodying a general syslein of Agriculture, uited to Ihe soil and climate of Ohio. Jlcmlml, That in order to obtain the formation of a Stato Society on a liberal nnd useful scale, this llo.inl would recommend Ihe meeting of delegates from tin-several counties in the State, at Columbus, on the 3d Wednesday of November next. Ilemlnd, That tho Corresponding Secretary be requested to forward a copy of the foregoing resolutions to the present Stato Agricultural Society, with a request that ho lay tho samn before said Society nt its next meeting, nnd also that ho cause these resolutions to ho published in the papers of ibis town, and in tho Ohio runner. J. N. WILSON, Cor. Sce'y. I. Blue, lice. Stc'y. From tlifl ('lir.titre Parmer. KXI'KRIMKXTM. Mr. Cookk As ynu bavo called for the result of actual experiments, I send you mo miiowing you mny do what you please with them, if you throw the connniiiiienlion under tho table, well: Inilin ll'iiat. sowed one third of an acre, from which 1 hnd twelve bushels; it was Judged one half blailid, winch II U " not niatcti, would nuvo yielded at Iho ratio of tmnly-firt bushels lo the aero which only corrobr rates the statement of others, resulting from Ihctr experiments. I hesitate not to stato that this urain is the cheapest (Train that is raised, when wo consider its price, and the risk of the seasons for raising other grains. 1 am persuaded from experience that it Is inferior lo no grain, fur filteningbogs; nnd by the way, il is not a dear or an unpalalalilo food fur tho table, when common whoil is scarce. !j. SkiAihit ('urn. Last spring I naked a part of my seed com in copperas and water, until the sprouts had slarted perhapi one-fourth of nil inch. Tho result was, the corn that was snaked, was ten days earlier than Iho oilier, and was fully ripe fr harvesting before the usual timo of frosts, for there was only about a bushel of "pig corn" (properly so called) among seventy-five sound, dry enough lo crib. Again; tho worms did not destroy it, for Ihero were no hills missing, while there nro many hills gono a few rods distant, where tho corn was not soaked. Frnin the Cleveland Inti-ltigonrcr. Tho Yht crop in Indiana, from all accounts, is most abundant. At I.npnrte, heat is sellingnt 8 .J cents per bushel; and il is calculated that Ihe farmers in that vicinity will have a siiplus of 3011,001) bushels to ilisposoof. They will likewise have 100,001) bushels ol potatoes; ami a similar amount nt inns, miciiignu, too, this summer, has ilolio remarkably well, in Iho prnduco way. She, instead of purchasing, for her own consumption, as has heretofore beeu Iho case, has raised a large amount for exportation. This is as Il should he. The rniiing of un exlrn amount of produce will do much to improve the chancier and credit of theso Stales both at homo ami abroad. It is said thai a number of cows In the neighborhood of Dayton, have beeu poisoned from eatingbuckeyes. LEGISLATIVE PROCEEDINGS 1838-9. SESSION JOfltNAL AND REGISTER, PMiiktl Daily, Trt WuUf, Stnl-IYetU), and Wakll. The Proprietors of the Ohio State Journal and Political Register will, as heretofore, devote the publication, during tho approaching sittings of the General Assembly, to a careful detail of the proceedings of that body. The sessions of the Legislature of tho great State of Ohiohave been increasing in interest in a degree corresponding with the annual increase of population, wealth, and intelligence. It is believed that tho session near at hand will provo second in interest and excitement to none of those which have preceded it. I'rom causes which it is not necessary here to enumerate, the helm of Government has passed out of tho charge of the Whigs into that of their po litical opponents. The latter come into power as the pledged friends of Hank Reform, by which term many understand the destruction of the Ranks as the advocates of tho right of repeal by tho Legislature in cases of charters granted at former sessions as the oppo nents of the credit system as the exterminating foes of paper money, particularly of notes of the minor denominations and as the oxolunivo friends of tlie gold and silver or " exclusive metallic" humbug, and the thrice defeated Sub-Treasury scheme. They nro also pledged to reduce tho Stato taxes. Many of these J subjects nro tho absorbing topics of tho time, I hey constitute the great dividing lines of party, on cither side of which the statesmen of the day havo assumed hostile stations. In the General Assembly, tho Loco-focos possess Iho strength of numbers. They will zealously urge tho adoption of thtir peculiar views. I hat thoso doctrines which are pernicious will bo met and resisted by as talented, patriotic, cnergclic, nnd determined a band of Whigs as ever raised Ihcir voices in tho legislative halls of the country, is a matter of consoling certainty. The clashing of prejudice and principle will, no doubt, be productive of many scenes of intense excitement, of good and evil tendency, of which no citizen of the Stato should ho ignorant. It will bo our caro, calmly lo note the progress of events, and impartially to spread before our readers a history of the conduct of the People's representatives. How fairly and fully tho ascendant party redeem their pledges, and how well thoso lately in power seek to advance the interests of the State, shall be faithfully detailed in tho columns of the Session Journal and 1!e-oisteh. conditions. Tho Daily Sau'on Journal and Register will contain as great an amount of reading matter as is common in Western dailies. Price during tho session, Three Dollars. The Tri-Wtchty Simon paper will contain no advertisements, (excepting a singlo insertion of new ones,) hutwill be exclusively duvoted lo rending matter. Price Two Dollars. The Semi-Weekly edition will he published on an extra-imperial sheet, containing all the matter of the other editions. PricoOne Dollar and Fitly Cents. To accommodate portions of the Stato where weekly mails alone penetrate, a Wttkly edition will be published, on a large extra-imperial sheet, entirely mndo up of reading matter. This edition will bo furnished at One Dollar for tho session. The several editions of Ihe Journal and Register, in addition to the ordinary subjects embraced in a newspaper, will furnish full reports of tho proceedings of the General Assembly. Competent Reporters for tho two branches havo already been engaged. The editor will also endeavor to give the reader a running commentary on tho actions of parties, in the shape of a daily summnry. At the cluso of Iho session, a complete list of all acts passed, with copies of some of tho most important laws, will he published. News, Congressional, Political, Foreign and Domestic, will always occupy a portion of liie columns of the Journal and Register. Subscribers names must be returned as early as during Iho first week in December. Advance payments will in all cases be required for the Session paper. T la a melnneboly fact that Consumption constitutes a large) ponton of our bills of mortality, and forma one of the moat crowded avenues to the lomli. The prinrlpal cause of the mor lallty of this formldalde disoase, may he aurihulable to the peculiar character of Its primary symptom. In Its first lUges, the pa tlent Is seldom aware of the alarming disease that ta fastening upon mm: eonsru, uetitiy no remedial aid la sought until it la too laic. Its premonitory symptoms appenr tridlug, hence they are ilisrrgarded until In their more full developemenl the vkUm la alarmed, and strugglee In vain to elude ita ratal grasp. The first symptoms that should bo taken as a warning, era the fallowing, via: A shoil dry cough, without much expectoration except a frothy mucus nn uneasiness a trout the chest, or a sense of pain when lying on the side; a pain under the breast bone; respiration la op pressctl ly the least extra bodily exertion, and particularly m warm rooms, or In moist weatlier; mental excitement and dejection, alternately; spitting of Moot) Is also a warning symptom of approaching Conauuiiillon. Colda frequently engender this die e,iee; the alarming symptom, in this case, la the continuation of the rough arcu nt taiiied Willi same of the above symptoms, an of which may be ohserved perhaps for months before ihe patient will acknowledge that he Is so III aa to require attention, when Indeed this Is the most crttkal period, and If relief la not aoon round, the cough Increases and la more troublesome and severe-particularly al night; Iho expectoration more copious, of a green tali rolur, sometimes tinged with blood; the lahorloui breathing and emaciation continue lo Increase; the beetle Hush la aoon seen In the pale cheek, accompanied by night sweats, ftc; Ihe closing scene Is too well known. For Hits form Ida lie disease, the Pulmonary Balsam Is prepared and oil'srod lo the alllirled, in connexion with my Elixir of Health and Embrocation. Ilia a well known fact thi.t a wound, sore or ulcer cannot easily be healed or cured without keeping the system In good order and a healthful condition; hence Hie failure of all cough medicine for Ihe cure of the Coiisumpilva rough, this couglt being only a symptom of a die- eased slate ot' Ihe lungs, can only lie permanently removed as l bey are restored to a sound state. Sept. 25..2 2m. & UACKCST Clerk. II. EnMtinnn'B rulmonnry 11 ulna in, FOR DISEASES OF THE LUNGS AND RREABT. The llalsam possesses the requisite properties fur healliutand restoring Hie lungs to a healthful state, while Hit Elixir lends to produce. Invigorate, and ma hit a tn a healthy ac tion in the whole system, purifying tho blood and preparing the system, so that nature, by the aid uf the tlnlsam and Embroca tion, may carry on and rilcct the healing process. No one medicine ean be relied upon In a diseased state of Ihe lungs; but the above medklnea, via: II, En si man's Pulmonary Balsam, Elixir of Health and Em hroratlon, have succeeded even Im Hie apparent Jiast aiageg of Consumption.
