AGAIN, at the close of an active campaign, we a:t permitted to congratulate the Whigs of Ohio on the success of their lubors to retain in their own hands the political power of the State. Finn and steadfast in their purposes to promote to the bent of their ability, the interests of this great State, they bave promptly exercised the high privilege conferred on thein, by our republican institutions, and the verdict is such an one as they had a right to expect. Having performed their duty and devolved upon men of their choice the leg istative power of the State, it is natural and proper that they should feel an interest in the deliberations ot those men, their public servants. The Legislative body that convenes in this city in December next, will compare favorably with any legislative body that lias ever been convened in this State in point of "talent, integrity, experience and patriotism. It is a token of better days for our beloved Stale when we see men who have stood high in the Councils ot the Nation, who have enjoyed for years the confidence and respect of the wise and good within our borders, and who have faithfully discharged all the trusts committed to their hands at home and abroad, obeying the demands of their fellow-citizens and once more entering upon the active duties of public life. In the deliberations of such men we cannot but feel an interest, knowing as we do, that questions of deep import to the State will come under consideration. That they will acquit themselves well we lnve an abiding confidence ; and this, as it should, but adds to our desire to ponder their doing! and secure to ourselves the evidence of their wisdom aud fidelity in n faithful transcript of the proceedings of the Legislative body ol which they are members. That there has been too much party legislation ni Ohio candid nnd considerate men of all parties will probably admit. And that the next Legislature may lie enabled to foster by its action the great interests ot the State, without reference to party or sectional divisions, should be the desire of nil. lint, we cannot rrmiin insensible to the fact that the Whigs, who constitute a majority in that body, will be held responsible for what may be (lone or left undone. As n party, therefore, we are deeply interested in having before us a correct record of what is done, that we may defend whit is right and by our united voices strengthen the bauds of our servants in well doing. Posted as we are on the walls of the Capitol, with facilities greatly increased by experience, and encouraged by the approbation which our past labors have secured, we again announce our intention to issue a Session paper during the ensuing winter. With an enlarged sheet at our command and the aid of an excellent corps of lteporters, W6 confidently expect to furnish a session paper equal to the wants and expectations of the Whigs of Ohio. Aiming at arc urai m in our reports of proceedings, we hope to secure a wide circulation for the Session Journal in every section of the Stale. The other department! of the paper will receive their share of attention, and the pnTeedings of Congress and the general intelligence of the day will be faithl'ullv noted from dav to day in our columns. Breast and Chest, Whooping Cough, Croup, and all other diseases of the Liver and Lungs. COLDS and COL'UHS lead to Conntmption. How many valuable lives might be spared if a little more attention was paid to those apparently trilling complaints, coldB, coughs, etc. There aro very few who estimate correctly the vital importance of having them immediately removed; and generally look upon them as harmless complaints, that will speedily pass off, without any assistance, and in the exercise of such a delusive hope, the majority of those who die annually of consumption in its various forms, have allowed themselves to put olf the use of a proper medicine, until their lungs become diseased without remedy. If the celebrated Dr. Duncan's Expectorant Remedy for consumption, colds, coughs. Ac, was employed immediately on the Mr.-1 appearance of a cold, a tedious, and probably a fatal illness might be arrested. It is an invaluable medicine in every stage of the disease. It removes the tirst symptoms immediately, and when it is not absolutely impossible, it seldom fails to effect a cure in the worst cases. It is at this time that the Seed of Consumption is sown in the system nnd nurtured until the Lungs become seriously and dangerously diseased, when in all probability the patient, for the tirst time, will begin to sees. Miai. now many tlioiiwaniU tnus neglect themselves and suffer their Health, and finally their Lite to tve destroyed. 1 lie lirsl pereeptitile toot-prints ot CONSl MPTION, experienced at sudden changes ofthe weather, are Hoarseness anil t.ounh, soreness oi tlie l tiroat, and Irritation of the Bronchi. I'aiu in the Head, Coldness of the Feet, and Sudden Chilliness over the Body. At length the cough increases, and finally prostration and languidness of the whole system follows, which indicate a sudden de cline of Health, and the speedy approach of f owntmptum. These facts, plain ns they appear to every sensible person, do not, however, Beein to alarm those afflicted, until it may be too late. Ask who you please, and almost every person will advi vise you to pro- cure this medicine. imniEM CHANGES The Mother of Consumptions THIS fact is clearly demonstrated wherever we have a sudden change in the weather. At length the cough increases, and finally prostration and languidness of the whole system follows, which indicate a sudden de cline of Health, and the speedy approach of f owntmptum. These facts, plain ns they appear to every sensible person, do not, however, Beein to alarm those afflicted, until it may be too late.
